Junior Marketing, Communications and Events Executive


£18k – £20k + bonuses – London, UK


We are looking for a talented Junior Marketing, Communications and Events Executive to help grow our existing portfolio of owned sports events as well as work with clients to aid their marketing campaigns.

You will join a small, growing team as part of a wider creative agency getting opportunities to gain experience across departments.

You’ll be working in the WMP Sports team on events across the UK and Europe from mass participation
closed road runs to multi-day European cycles. You will also have the opportunity to work with other WMP departments including Film and Video, Exhibition, Design and Digital. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing team in our London office.

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with Head of Events and Head of Marketing to create and implement marketing
    campaigns to increase participant sign ups to owned events (Triathlons and Half Marathons).
  • Managing social media channels for the four owned events.
  • Helping to create content to add to these channels and campaigns.
  • Creating and fostering relationships with local stakeholders (business, groups and schools) on
    owned half marathons.
  • Assisting with partnership relations and activation.
  • Managing CRM on owned events (monitoring and responding to events email accounts and
    phone lines)
  • Aiding with the design of event visual assets and collateral (e.g. brand, t-shirts, medals etc.).
  • Aiding with operational aspects of event delivery such as partner and sponsor management
    and volunteer and staff liaison.


The key skills and qualities of a Junior Marketing and Communications Executive:

  • Highly organised and focused individual that is able to prioritise multiple workstreams.
  • A highly motivated team player who is willing to ‘muck in’ outside of normal day to day tasks,
    both as in a team environment and whilst working on their own.
  • A keen interest and passion for sport (particularly running, cycling and triathlon).
  • Social media savvy with excellent copywriting skills; knowledge of Google and social media
    analytics to track success of campaigns is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as a basic knowledge of
    website platforms (e.g. Wix and WordPress) would also be beneficial.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Use of Mailerlite or other email campaign programs; camera skills (both still and video); editing skills (Premier or iMovie) are not essential for the role but strongly desired.
