What are cookies

Cookies are tiny text files, which are downloaded to your computer when you visit almost any website. Websites use them to perform certain functions (e.g., serve you the right country version of the site), to enhance the user experience (e.g., to remember your preferences), for reporting purposes (e.g., analytics), and for advertising purposes.

What are the different types of cookies?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs.

By lifespan, a cookie is either:
  • a session cookie which is erased when the user closes the browser or,
  • a persistent cookie which remains on the user’s computer/device for a pre-defined period.

The domain to which the cookie belongs can be either:

  • first-party – these are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain (in this instance wmpcreative.com)
  • third-party – stored by a different domain to the visited page’s domain. This can happen when the webpage references a file, such as JavaScript, located outside its domain.

How do we use cookies?

This website uses both first and third-party cookies. All the cookies on this site can be categorised by the function they perform and according to whether they are first or third-party.

WMP will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you; however, some third-party cookies may do so.

We have provided a full list of all the cookies used on this website, their lifespan, domain, function, and how to control them in the tables section of this page.

  • Functional:
These cookies allow the site to remember choices in response to actions made by users, such as setting your cookie preferences. We use a mixture of first and third-party cookies. They are not used to track visitors. Please be aware that restricting these cookies may impact some areas of the website’s functionality.
  • Website Experience:
Enabling these first-party cookies is not strictly necessary for the website to work, but it will provide you with a better browsing experience. You can delete or block these cookies, but if you do that, some features of this site may not work as intended.
  • Reporting:
Reporting/performance cookies collect information on how users interact with the site. These third-party cookies allow us to measure site usage by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This helps us to continually improve site performance and the user experience. We use HotJar, Google Analytics, Leadforensics for these purposes.
  • Advertising:
These third-party cookies are used by advertising companies to serve ads that are relevant to your interests and/or based on your previous interactions with the ads or website (e.g., remarketing). Cookies may be set by these third parties and used by them to track your online activity and for the purpose of such activity. We have no direct control over the information that is collected by these cookies.
  • Other third parties:
These third-party cookies are used to provide you with increased on-site functionality. Here, we are specifically referring to the use of social media buttons and/or plugins on this site that allow you to connect with your social network in various ways. For these to work, social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn will set cookies through our site, which may be used to enhance your profile on their site or contribute to the data they hold for various purposes outlined in their respective privacy policies.

How to control cookies

You can control/restrict what cookies are stored based specifically on your interaction with this website. As soon as your preferences have been set, it will alter which cookies are stored from this website from that point onward. If you want to have all historical data associated with first-party cookies deleted, please contact

engage@wmpcreative.com

For third-party cookies, you will need to contact the individual provider to have historical cookie data deleted.

If you restrict, block, or delete certain cookies, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site, and some services and functionalities may not work.

To control cookies that this website specifically adds to your visit, you can do so by using the preference centre.

If you wish to view a cookie’s code, just open your cookie file in your browser and click on a cookie to open it. You’ll see a short string of text and numbers. The numbers are your identification card, which can only be seen by the server that gave you the cookie. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone, you will need to refer to your handset manual.
